PRIVACY POLICY

Giving USA Foundation and the Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University take privacy and data protection issues seriously. We have designed this Privacy Policy to explain how we handle personally identifiable information collected from users of our online order and payment system.

Scope of this Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy covers treatment of personally identifiable information collected from users of the online ordering and payment systems for Giving USA, as well as information that we acquire from your institution to offer you online service for your account.
This Policy does not apply to the practices of companies Giving USA Foundation, the Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University or its vendors do not own or control, or to people that are not employed or managed by these organizations. Vendors involved in fulfillment of Giving USA orders include Pursuant Agency and Indiana University Payment Services.

Information Collection and Use

When you place an order, we ask for your name, title, organization name, address, e-mail, telephone number, items ordered, and discount code (if one). This information and the dollar total of the order will be stored at Pursuant Agency and shared with personnel at the Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University and with personnel and potentially with the volunteer leadership of Giving USA Foundation.
To pay for your order, you will be transferred from the Giving USA website to the  IU Payment Services page. Your payment information (credit card number, billing address, expiration date, etc.) will only be entered on the Indiana University Payment Services site.
None of the information related to your personal data and your payment will be shared with Giving USA Foundation or the Center on Philanthropy. Personnel there will know only that your credit card transaction was approved or denied so that fulfillment of your order may be completed or so that you can be contacted about payment options should your credit card be declined.

Protection of your credit card information

IU Payment Services will use the credit card information collected only to process payment transactions, to facilitate billing, and otherwise deliver the payment and/or billing services. You will receive from IU Payment Services only the following:

  • - Electronic copy of payment receipts
  • - Electronic copy of payment failures
  • - When a new billing statement is available

Personally identifiable consumer information is shared with third parties (such as banks and credit card processors) to the extent necessary for IU Payment Services to deliver payment and/or billing services.
IU Payment Services is in full compliance with Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI DSS).

Information Sharing and Disclosure

Giving USA Foundation and the Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University reserve the right to contact you by e-mail or postal services when we need to share your information to provide the payment and/or billing service you have requested, to notify you of special offers, or to invite you to resubscribe to Giving USA products. We will not share your contact information with other organizations except as provided below:
We also may release personally identifiable information (your name, organization name, etc.) when we believe release is appropriate to comply with law or protect the rights, property, or safety of our users, or others. This includes exchanging information with other companies and organizations for fraud protection and risk reduction.

Information Security

Information security is critical to our business. We work to protect the security of your information during transmission by using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) software, which encrypts information you input. We store information gathered on secure computers.  We use firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and database-level encryption technology to prevent our computers from being accessed by unauthorized persons.

Third-Party Analytics

This website uses Google Analytics, a Web analytics service provided by Google, Inc. (“Google”). Google Analytics uses “cookies”, which are text files placed on your computer, to help the website analyze how users use the site. The information generated by the cookie about your use of the website (including your IP address) will be transmitted to and stored by Google on servers in the United States. Google will use this information for the purpose of evaluating your use of the website, compiling reports on website activity for website operators and providing other services relating to website activity and Internet usage. Google may also transfer this information to third parties where required to do so by law, or where such third parties process the information on Google’s behalf. Google will not associate your IP address with any other data held by Google. You may refuse the use of cookies by selecting the appropriate settings on your browser.
